Sports Day, Family Visists and Photo Shoots!

I just love this photo of my cheeky little miss!

Amber was surprised with a trip to the roller skating rink on the weekend and this time her daddy came along for the trip (actually it was his idea!) and it was a complete surprise to her! I think David got a little more exercise than first planned and was great entertainment for me and Aidan in the first half an hour, while they both wobbled around the rink.................mind you I didn't laugh to loud as he only fell over once and I am sure if I got out there that I would have spent more time on my butt than standing up. You could not wipe the smile off Amber's face she was so happy that her daddy could come along! What an enjoyable Saturday afternoon and so lovely to do something as a family for a change!

I certainly have a thing for suspenders, I am not sure why but I love them as you can see with the above photos as well as the ones below! The below dress is just Divine, just another wonderful creation from Jottum and thankfully Amber was happy to oblige her mother this time. Now the hair well that is a whole other story and what an effort, unless its a pony tail and not just any ponytail if its too high up on her head its no good either she will not wear it without a fight. Even at ballet its impossible to get her to wear a bun. Unfortunately at the start of the night as we were getting ready for family photos there were a few tears and a little bit of bribery, but she finally surrendered and allowed me to put her hair up in buns..................thankfully by the end of the night she was in happy land again! This might sound cruel but i can only stand so many ponytails!

Her buns were a little floppy by the end of the night, but she was just delighted that I was allowing her to release some of that five year old energy by climbing up on the ottoman continuously and jumping off it so we could take some fun photos! After all the hair drama it was nice to have some fun and the hair incident was all but forgotten!

I just adore stripes!

Here are the few (thanks hubby) and only photos that were taken while my sister and family visited. Sorry that putt putt golf and sizzler were the replacement and a poor one at that for the cancelled Pink Concert tickets. I hope it distracted you if only for a small amount of time! I know it is a little early Scott but I hope you had a nice 40th birthday (where does the time go...................!).

Amber had her first Track and Field Sports Day last week, she had a wonderful day and wanted to have a go at the three events that the little preppies were aloud to compete in. They looked so tiny in their 60 metre sprint. Amber is third from the right, right at the back she came second last, but had fun all the same! I am just happy she gave it a go! She was so excited when her house colour won the tug of war! As you can see in the below photo she put all her strength and effort into helping her team. It was a lovely warm winter day and we had perfect weather, I really enjoyed sharing the day with her!

Oh well just another boring week in the Nyssen household lol! Actually I am looking forward to a dull week so I can catch up on everything else!

Choo Choo! Here Comes the Circus Train!

I mentioned in my last post that we went to the rail museum on the last weekend of our school holidays but due to the obscene amount of photos that I wished to post I decided to dedicate a whole post to the museum. I always have found it difficult in making decisions or choices with anything through my life and usually I miss out on things because I procrastinate for way too long, so I guess the same could be said with me regarding photos and posting excessive amounts of pictures all the time, its like I want to be fair to them all just in case one misses out and will ruin the story lol! Or maybe I am just terrible at making my mind up!

Its not that my photography is any good, even though I have a love for it, its just that this blog is like a diary for me and my children, the problem is I love everything that is remotely beautiful, always have and probably always will, so I just love taking photos, one day(in my spare time lol, like that will ever happen) I would love to take a course.

I remember when I was little at Easter time and the Easter Bunny came I was always overwhelmed with how beautiful all the wrapped Easter Eggs were so it would take me months to bring myself to unwrap them as I didn't want to ruin how beautiful they where. Once I delicately unwrapped them being ever so careful as to not rip the foil I would then collect all the beautiful wrappings and place them in a shoe box or something to treasure for ever! My poor mum she had to deal with my hoarding tendencies from an early age lol! So I guess it is something that is just ingrained in me from since I was just a tiny thing! Now if I could find away to make my disorder bring me wealth and success I will be well and truly on my way!

It was a perfect way to finish the holidays going to the Rail Museum and the theme for this school holidays was called the "Circus Train", which was perfect as in around a months time from now Amber and her fellow classmates will be holding their very own circus event. Amber is now in intense tightrope training for what I am sure will be a performance to remember.

I wasn't sure what to expect when we went out to Ipswich because I thought how exciting could a rail museum seriously be, just a shed full of old trains and a few guided tours, well I am happy to admit I was very wrong, it was seriously a whole lot of fun for young and old and very interactive. Amber is already busting for us to take her again.

I think Amber's favourite part of the museum were the shows, masterfully done by the same gentleman, who was a juggling clown in the morning and a ringmaster in the afternoon. We all had a wonderful day and are looking forward to the next time already............apparently the theme is train robberies, sounds intriguing I think!

I had to post these couple of photos of Aidan and my sisters little girl Makayla, I think the one of her looking through the bars of the cot and the look on her face is priceless(what a cheeky little monkey she was!).

On an ending note, we had a little visitor to our house on our first week back at school! I heard a bird chirping like it was distressed early in the evening and thought I would go take a look outside.......................and what did I find a baby Indian minor bird on our front veranda very distressed looking for its mother. It must have fallen out of its nest. Now I know these birds are a pest and destroy native birds nests and hollows, but I am one of those people that can't even hurt a fly, much to my dismay sometimes. So anyway we decided to keep the bird over night and try and release it first thing in the morning as it was going to be way to cold overnight. So we found a shoe box and put some holes in it and found an old cloth nappy and popped the bird inside for the night.

Amber kept asking if we were going to feed the bird and asked if she could have a little cuddle before we put him to bed for the night. I love taking care of animals, and would love to do charity work to help sick and injured animals, but having an indoor dog is just not conducive to doing this at the moment and I don't think I could handle living on less sleep that what I already do for the moment anyway, maybe when the children are a little older I might consider it.

Anyway the story has a happy ending as the bird managed to let itself out of the box in the morning and David placed him outside on the table first thing and when he came back he had successfully flown away. Its always a nice feeling to help out a poor defenceless creature and release it back into the world, hopefully in a much better state!
